There is a proposal to build an oval track at the site of the abandoned
runway located at St. Andrews Airport.
The new proposal is as follows:
The track would have a 500' radius in the north and a 300' radius
in the south with two 1800' straight track sections joining them.
The width of the sections would be 12' with additional widened sections.
The north 500' radius would be 30' wide and the south curve would be
18' wide.
500' radius- Inside lane would be 12' wide and level. Outside lane
would be 18' wide and super elevated.
200' transition- Eastside of 500' radius to straight track.
1800' straight- 12' wide- with 200' transition into a second 200'
12' wide durability lane and then another 200' transition.
200' transition- east side of 300' radius to straight track.
300' radius- single super elevated lane 18' wide.
200' transition- west side of 300' radius to straight track.
1800' straight- 12' wide- with 200' transition into a 400' 48' wide
dynamic test lanesection (ie: 4 level lanes) and then another 200' transition.
200' transition- west side of 500' radius to straight track.
Construction would be heavier than regular road to account for heavier
use by test vehicles (ie: road bus and semi use).
